Our first grill of the Spring came in the form of handmade turkey burgers!
I'd never made homemade burgers at all, surprisingly, but found the experience to be quite easy and ... man, the sky's the limit!
Here we have 1) mozzarella, red onion and green peppers and Montreal Steak Seasoning, 2) mozzarella, red onion and green peppers, 3) mozzarella, red onion, green peppers and chipotle, and 4) red onion and green peppers and pineapple!
Hi Mel,
ReplyDeleteHere is another to try when you are feeling adventurous. They are delicious and I have made them for several groups of friends and they have asked for more! I usually leave out the cayenne, liquid smoke and nutritional yeast. They are pretty easy to make you just need a fork to mash and a little time!

from scratch)

4 Tbsp. finely chopped onions
4 Tbsp. finely chopped carrots
4 Tbsp. finely chopped mushrooms
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tsp. nutritional yeast

1 Tbsp. vegetarian Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp. low sodium soy sauce
1 tsp. liquid smoke
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper

Make bread crumbs by processing bread in food processor or blender
briefly.
Mix all ingredients with your hands. It will be very thick.
Form into 6 patties and brown on both sides on frying pan. Lightly
spray the pan or wipe with oil.
Serve on a whole wheat bun with all the condiments for a delicious,
healthy, low-fat burger
