In Yoga Center keychain

In Yoga Center keychain, a photo by Petunia21 on Flickr.

Today marked my 2nd 7 am yoga practice at In Yoga Studio in Valley Village. I really enjoyed it again, and it was very challenging.

I felt Monday's workout yesterday when trying to lift my 64 ounces of water from one side of my desk to the other! The facilities are really great and very accommodating. The lady at the front desk is adorable and cheerful for 6:45 in the morning!

Their spa-like bathrooms are really great. Both mornings, I was the only one there, so it was relaxing... and they provide towels!!! I just need to make sure the second the class is over to pack up and book it to the shower to allow myself a few more seconds to get to work.

Thin Mints... a thing of my past?

I totally decided to indulge today in a girl scout cookie. I offered one up to Shannon who was jonesing for some chocolate. So I decided with tea today, I'd have one. I hadn't had one in quite some time...

Well, they are just not what I remember... :( I ended up throwing the 2nd half out. Not worth the calories or the sugar spike :( Bye Bye thin mints.

Easter Chocolate

Yesterday, was probably the only Easter Sunday I ever had where I didn't eat chocolate... except maybe my first... does one generally give a 4 month old chocolate?

Turkey Burgers

Turkey Burgers by Petunia21
Turkey Burgers, a photo by Petunia21 on Flickr.

Our first grill of the Spring came in the form of handmade turkey burgers!

I'd never made homemade burgers at all, surprisingly, but found the experience to be quite easy and ... man, the sky's the limit!

Here we have 1) mozzarella, red onion and green peppers and Montreal Steak Seasoning, 2) mozzarella, red onion and green peppers, 3) mozzarella, red onion, green peppers and chipotle, and 4) red onion and green peppers and pineapple!

Gratitude April 25

Its Early! I'm grateful for:

1) waking up at 5:15, NOT sleepy. I got to spend 1/2 hour with the husband while he went off on his way to the first day of apprenticeship.
2) Having enough time and energy to empty out the dishwasher and pack my lunch for the day.
3) that I packed my clothes last night for today.
4) that the yoga studio has showers!!!!
5) that the yoga studio has TOWELS!!!!
6) that I was the only one getting dressed after the practice. Very relaxing.
7) that the bathrooms were CLEAN and SPA like.
8) that I didn't have to be corrected too often. I haven't done yoga in over 5 years.
9) that I got to work on time, with very little HARD rushing.
10) the colored deviled eggs my EP brought in this morning.
11) getting in touch with my new body.
13) the sunshine today. I feel like a million bucks.
14) Coconut Curry leftovers for lunch!
15) recognizing that I can't save my parents marriage, only my own.
16) that I can have compassion for the guy last night dumpster diving at 11:30pm making a lot of noise.
17) that I was not the one dumpster diving.
18) the hope I have today that I didn't have 19 months ago.
19) the nap I took on my couch on Saturday... it was that good!
20) not over overindulging at ALL yesterday, and never needing to utter the words "tomorrow's a new day. back on track tomorrow".

Seriously, I'm sick.

Some gals out there love them some Prada, or Coach, or Louis Vuitton...

but me,

I love LUNCH BAGS!

I have idea why...
Maybe because for as far back as I remember, I was a "lunch bringer".  I only bought lunch on very special occasions (Pizza Friday), or when they were having "Chicken Patty on a bun, with mixed veggies and milk..."

When I reached adulthood, I soon saw how quickly the bank account would drop when I would go out for lunch... Nowadays even 1 time a week is even a lot.

I generally bring last night's left overs for lunch today. Or maybe a big salad.  Cans of soup fill a drawer at work in case I'm in a pinch or run out of time in the morning.

I guess maybe that's where my love of lunchboxes/bags/coolers come from.

I had this cute rounded purple "old fashion construction worker" lunch box for the longest time. I still have it, but the inside liner is kinda old and gross and smells... seriously, I remember bringing Lean Cuisines in that bag when I was in High School working my job at AC Moore.

I also have this lunch bag.

0419011701.jpg

She's amazing.  She has this awesome pocket in the front that I keep absolutely nothing in... (being honest)...  She fits a good work day's amount of food.  I would say a solid 2 meals and snacks!  Very helpful for a 10 hour work day.  And being that I eat selectively these days, must come armed for the day with my snacks and beverages.

I have a baby sister bag too...

downsized_0419011705.jpg

She is good for 1 good breakfast or lunch.  Mostly these days, she is assigned to the big refrigerator at work where I keep cheese, turkey peperoni, or carrots to snack on.  Kinda like a reserve spot. This bag also doubles as a DSLR case when I'm flying. Fits 1 camera and 1 extra lens and my charger :)

I also have this one.  I use this one when I don't have a lot of food to bring to work, and the one above is still stationed at work.

This one is great because when it gets dirty, I can just throw it into the washing machine!  It also is elasticy and can fit some over-sized Tupperware containers or bottles of Kombucha.

And with all of these in tow... my eye still lingers... like a man, never satisfied at home, begins to glance at women walking down the street, as do I.... on lunch bags.  I mean... look at these two below!  I don't have any in this size!  And look how cute they are! Like little purses! Only better... cause they're filled with FOOD!

Unlike the bags that Sofia from The Golden Girls would keep, where she would stick meat balls in her purse... these were DESIGNED for meatballs!

But oops... I did it again.  The other day while looking for hiking convertible pants at REI... I came across this stunner!

A) she's purple... my favorite color.
b) she's on clearance... in other words... LAST CHANCE TO BUY!
c) she was discounted...
d) she has pockets on the sides for bottles of water.
e) she has very good reviews on the REI website.
f) long straps

I need to figure out if she is bigger than my "18 can" turquoise and blue dots Reyna Thermos bag above... if she she brings something interesting to the party... See, I have this wide, thin partition Rubbermaid container that I'm looking for transportation vehicle for. Right now, I can only fit it in ms. 18 can cooler, but only if I carry it as though I'm carrying a freshly baked cake... and that is not how I roll to work.  I usually have scarves, and work bags and jackets in tow. I need something I can commute with, vertically.

So, we'll see. I placed the order this morning. Should arrive next Monday. Fingers crossed!

I want a penguin!

Ouch

Ouch by Petunia21
Ouch, a photo by Petunia21 on Flickr.

If you passed by the gas station last night on Ventura, and saw some girl crying at the pump... chances are it was me... or ... maybe many other people who need to take a Xanax every time their gas light comes on.

I was lucky, I passed an Arco that was just $4.17... across the street it was $4.39.

Glass bottle!

Glass bottle! by Petunia21
Glass bottle!, a photo by Petunia21 on Flickr.

I found this at Whole Foods last night. With all the craze of what type of plastics to NOT use, I love the thought of this amazingly adorable glass water bottle. Its nice cause it has a silicone protective shield and handle. Its BPA free, and won't hold the stench of old water!

But this is only 16 ounces... and that makes it kinda hard for me to justify carrying around. Its also... not light!

Did I mention how cute it is?... I think it was also $23 bucks.

And the troops come marching in!

Here is the first "taste" of my new plate collection.  It was the only thing delivered yesterday... for some reason, they shipped 1 out of the 4 mugs. I guess it was a preview :)

I'm so pleased with the color, texture and feel of the mug. I love how 'squatchy' it is. I love that the flat white is matt. I love the plum purple inside. I love the feel of the handle on my hands.

The rest of the plates were supposed to be delivered today. I saw them arrive as I was doing my first Gmail chat with with the husband.  It was a nice BIG box, compapred to the 6x6 box that was delivered yesterday with the um, 1 mug ;)

I can't wait!

Sadness

I got my shoes last night, as promised, but I could barely get them on my feet.  Simply too tight and I almost felt like I was falling backwards... like the weight of my body was not centered on the heel for support... so, I ordered again today the next 1/2 size up.

The only sad thing is that they don't have that size right now in the black sandal, so, I'll just have to wait and hope the 8 fits me.  If not, the sandals are only something I get to look it.

A cool thing about Zappos.com is that they have 365 day return policy!  Pretty awesome!

My favorite tank top

It got a reprieve and its now my newest sleeping shirt!

Plum Delicious

I've been searching for plates for a while now... I hate the plates that I currently have.  I tried to sell them when we went for our "everything must go" sale, since we were moving back to NY...

Well, my favorite plates DID sell, ... my back up plates did not... which become our everyday plates... which I detest.  I didn't hate these plates while I used them as our "company plates."  But I hate them as my everyday plates.

So I've been on the look out for JUST the right set of plates...

These MIGHT be them!  They are from Crate & Barrel and are called Max Plum.
I'm not SOLD on the cups. I don't HATE them, but I don't LOVE them.  I do like the bowls.  Makes me wanna put some soba noodles in them and break out my chop sticks.  I also like how the sides of the plates curve up.  I like the white outside too with the vibrant color in the inside...

I'd like to see them in the flesh. I like to touch things before buying them.  We'll see!

our new Substitute couch

our new Substitute couch by Petunia21

So this is our new couch... except the chaise is supposed to be on the other side... so it goes along the window.

Right now, it cuts too close with the kitchen/bar area. But we love the color and the feel of the couch ... and the funky pillows!

Need I say more?

Its so hard to say goodbye

My favorite tank top by Petunia21

I have had this tank top for... my god, I can't even recall, how many years. Probably got it even before I was buying my own clothes with my own money!

I love the 3 shades of gray. Its soft. It covered my boobs well... its an XL. I downgraded it to a "work out shirt" and stayed there for a while... until today when I decided what was gonna be rags and what was gonna stay...

I keep teetering between just letting it go, and keeping it... what what reason, I don't know. Its really not suitable... but .... sooo hard to let go of some of this stuff!

I tried on these clothes this morning... these were on the goodbye list. I have a small stack that were on the stay pile.

I often wondered how I was gonna let go of my tank top collection... t

I want these

I want all 3 of these sandals... but sadly, all the review say that they are uncomfortable. So sad. They are so cute! I need some summer sandals for work and all my new cute dresses.

Ps. They are Madden Girl, which apparently, is a brand I adore!

Vegan World!

Vegan World! by Petunia21
Vegan World!, a photo by Petunia21 on Flickr.

I was really excited when I sat down tonight for our Date Night out to dinner and saw that this restaurant uses no White sugar! I only came here because I knew they had brown rice. SCORE!

The place is strictly vegan, which is cool, but I do like normal chicken.... not all the soy crap. But the pineapple curry was outstanding!

I love Fixins bars. Its all about the eatertainment!
