Wacky Wai-o-Tapu |
New Zealand's Ngakoro Loop Track is tucked into a sci-fi-like landscape with exaggerated earthly elements bubbling up from the depths, with years of volcanic activity backing its embellished appeal. The Wai-o-Tapu Thermal Wonderland (that's their name, not ours, though we couldn't have said it better) presents green lake water with steamy pots of sulfur, the Champagne Pool, with a fizzy carbon dioxide surface that resembles a glass of bubbly, and mud pools, where the frothy muck turns to a "paint pot" when iron compounds push upward. It's the kind of surreal setting you'd expect from a Tim Burton film. | | | | |

I want to go see this, just cause it looks like a huge vat of my favorite avocado-ee goodness!
